Nathan Olimb was nominated by school staff who work with him to receive the Local 2209 Student Recognition Award for November, 2017. Nathan is in his second year in the Phase North transition program after finishing his K-12 education at Wayzata High School.
Nathan is a very social young man. He enjoys interacting with both students and staff. He is a friend to many at Edgewood, especially, a male peer in his classroom. He also has a fantastic sense of humor! He has improved his use of appropriate greetings since coming to Edgewood.
Nathan is an excellent worker at the Jitterbug Café at North Education Center! He perseveres through wiping tables although it is a non-preferred task. He’s a terrific team member with his co-worker. He really enjoys making smoothies!
He is a unique thinker during MakerSpace class. He is innovative by trying different or new ways when working on class projects.
Nathan is a student leader at Edgewood. He is one of the Team 2 Student Council representatives. He has helped make important decision this year for choosing activities. Congratulations, Nathan!
Jalen M. is a thoughtful, caring, hard-working, detail-oriented and determined student. Jalen has been working on his transition plan and is having great success! Jalen was determined to reach his goal and he did not let any obstacles stand in his way. When things got tough, Jalen was mature and used his supports and perseverance to get him through.
Jalen has taken up drawing this year and has excelled. He is very detail oriented and careful about his work. He has produced some beautiful sketches that he has shared with staff. Jalen is a joker and he makes us smile every day. If someone is feeling down, Jalen is the first to check in with them and give encouragement and support. Jalen will do great things in his life! It will be bittersweet when he moves on from Northwest Tech Center. Jalen’s teachers know he will be successful in anything he chooses to focus on. Jalen will be missed dearly!
